The Man Behind the Rear Awards

Tony Edwards is a one-time comedy script writer, part-time novelist, and long-term publicity consultant. As a PR in the world of fashion, he made the link between style trends and changes in the size and shape of the female rear.
He noticed that the fashionable female silhouette over previous decades seemed to directly influence the accepted fashions of the respective periods and so could be regarded as a style indicator. The fashionable rear, he concluded, was worthy of an award and the ‘Rear of the Year’ competition was born – with actress Barbara Windsor its very first recipient.
